SPECIAL EVENT for TALKS IN PROGRESS, presentation of IL GRANDE LIBRO DI ERCOLE. Il cinema mitologico in Italia, with Marco Giusti and Steve Della Casa.

Library/Mediatheque – 6 February 2014, 8.30 p.m.

The National Cinema Museum “Mario Gromo” Library/Mediatheque presents an event-evening in the company of Marco Giusti and Steve Della Casa, who will present their book to the public on this occasion, IL GRANDE LIBRO DI ERCOLE. Il cinema mitologico in Italia (THE GREAT BOOK OF HERCULES. Mythological cinema in Italy), Sabinae Editions 2013, on Thursday 6 February at 8.30 p.m.

The event, which will inaugurate the 2014 season of TALKS IN PROGRESS – Book releases, DVDs and readings, is a rare occasion for listening to the history of the glorious Italian mythological cinema through an analysis of its most important characters, within the most exhaustive book ever written on this topic, illustrated by the authors’ voices. From Hercules to Samson, from Ursus to Maciste, a troop of brawny heroes traces a path within a genre that conquered the world, beginning with Le fatiche di Ercole (Hercules) up to the mid Sixties, becoming the subject of a steadfast cinephile cult in the course of time.

The authors will be accompanied by Giulia Carluccio (Turin University), Alberto Mittone (Lawyer). Meeting moderated by Fabio Pezzetti Tonion (NCM).
