Presentation of Toni D’Angela’s book John Ford: Un pensiero per immagini (A philosophy in images), for the DIALOGHI IN CORSO festival, with the author present, followed by a screening of John Ford’s film The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.
The inaugural event opens with the VOCI DEL SILENZIO (VOICES OF SILENCE) series of meetings and screenings in conjunction with the great exhibition DIVERSAMENTE VIVI (DIFFERENTLY ALIVE: Zombies, vampires, mummies, ghosts) at the National Cinema Museum until the 9th of January 2011.
For the occasion, the exhibition curator, Peppino Ortoleva (from the University of Turin), with Gian Paolo Caprettini (University of Turin) and Simone Natale (University of Turin) will discuss and debate the exhibition’s themes. Introduced by Sarah Pesenti Campagnoni (Brigate Irma Vep).
Afterwards there will be a screening of Paul Leni’s film The Cat and the Canary.
VOICES OF SILENCE is a series of meetings and screenings organised by the Brigate Irma Vep study group (Laura Brusa, Cristina Colet, Marco Grifo, Gabriele Perrone, Sarah Pesenti Campagnoni, Fabio Pezzetti Tonion and Matteo Visconti), run by professor Giulia Carluccio with the assistance of professor Silvio Alovisio. The group was formed with the aim of showing, reassessing and examining a seminal period in film history which however is not so familiar to the general public: silent film. In partnership with Turin’s DAMS college for the performing arts.
