A screening of Roger Corman’s film X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes as part of the COLPI DI GENIO. Scienziati e incontri nel cinema (MOMENTS OF GENIUS: Scientists and conferences in the cinema) festival.

Bibliomediateca – 17 May 2010, at 3.30 p.m.

The latest event in the film festival COLPI DI GENIO (MOMENTS OF GENIUS: Scientists and conferences in the cinema) will take place in the Bibliomediateca on Monday, the 17th of May 2010. The afternoon will feature a screening of Roger Corman’s film X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes. Closely related to the director’s well-loved Gothic themes, Corman created an extremely low-budget science-fiction film that contains all the genre’s most tried-and-tested narrative elements: a mad scientist, a dangerous experiment, redemption and death. In addition to the normal narrative structure, there is the theme of eyesight, the very instrument of cinema, which right from the beginning seems to underpin the original text, and where the eye watching the spectator – the eye of God that the doctor himself alludes to at the end – once more places Man in a more human and earthly position. Introduced by Hamilton Santià.
