SoundFrames presents Julie’s Haircut vs "The Last Command" at the Cinema Massimo.

The events linked to the SoundFrames. Cinema and music on show exhibition – which may be visited throughout 2018 at the Mole Antonelliana, are continuing at the Cinema Massimo. For this occasion, Julie’s Haircut will create a live soundtrack for the silent classic The Last Command by Josef von Sternberg on Wednesday 11 April, at 9.00 p.m. on Screen One at the Cinema Massimo, in a project linking the National Cinema Museum and the Transiti Festival in Trento.

 

Julie's Haircut are a band from Emilia, of the first importance within the indie rock scenario, which has established itself since 1990 to our days on the European scene, with exceptionally powerful and original albums (the latest of which, Invocation and Ritual Dance of My Demon Twin, was released by the prestigious English label Rocket Recordings). The band members are Laura Agnusdei, Nicola Caleffi, Luca Giovanardi, Andrea Rovacchi, Andrea Scarfone and Ulisse Tramalloni.

The Last Command

The story of a run-down former general from Imperial Russia, a cousin of the czar, who ends up by working as an extra in Hollywood in a film on the Bolshevik revolution, directed by a former revolutionary whom he had dealt with a decade earlier, during the clashes. The protagonist, Emil Jannings won the first Oscar in history for his performance.
