The National Cinema Museum presents the first part of NASCITA DI UNA NAZIONE? (THE BIRTH OF A NATION?): The Risorgimento in Italian film, by Sergio Toffetti.

To mark the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy, the National Cinema Museum presents the series NASCITA DI UNA NAZIONE? (THE BIRTH OF A NATION?): The Risorgimento in Italian film, at Cinema Massimo, from 17 to 20 May 2011, organised by Sergio Toffetti with the partnership of Rome’s Casa del Cinema and the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (Experimental Cinematography Centre) – National Film Archive. Admission: 5.50/4.00/3.00 euros.

There will be a second part to this retrospective, which focuses on portrayals of the Risorgimento movement in Italian film, at Cinema Massimo from 27 to 30 September 2011. Among the films included in the programme will be a screening of Mario Soldati’s Piccolo mondo antico (Old Fashioned World) on Wednesday, 18 May 2011, at 8.30 p.m., which follows an introduction by Sergio Toffetti.
