A presentation of Francesca Brignoli and Nuccio Lodato’s book INGRID BERGMAN – The vertigo of perfection for the DIALOGHI IN CORSO: presentation of new books, DVDs and readings. The authors will be in attendance.

DIALOGHI IN CORSO presents Francesca Brignoli and Nuccio Lodato’s book INGRID BERGMAN – La vertigine della perfezione (The vertigo of perfection), published by Le Mani, 2010. As well as the authors themselves, there will be contributions from Giulia Carluccio and Maria Paola Pierini (University of Turin). Introduction by Sonia Del Secco (National Cinema Museum).

After the presentation, the public will have the chance to watch a screening of Roberto Rossellini’s film La Paura (Angst)  (ITALY 1954, 84’, b/w), filmed by the director with, and for, Ingrid, where Bergman masterfully captures in just one face the complexity of a complete woman in her ambivalent roles as worker, wife, mother and lover.

Afterwards there will be a screening of Smycket (The Necklace), from Gustaf Molander’s collection of short films Stimulantia (SWEDEN 1967), where the actress plays a beautiful woman living in humble circumstances, who out of the desire to seem (and the vain delusion to want to be) part of the aristocracy finds herself facing the weight of a large and crushing debt with dignity.
