The Living Theatre at Cinema Massimo during the “SettantaOttanta (SeventiesEighties): the Italian mutation, circa 1979” festival
Our third edition of the SettantaOttanta (SeventiesEighties) festival opens with an afternoon featuring the Living Theatre, organised by the Franti - Nisi Masa Italia association, in partnership with the National Museum of Cinema. This experimental theatre company - which was founded in the USA, but which is international in spirit - continues to pursue its poetic and political goals after many years with extreme coherence and freedom. Historic materials from the 1960s, documenting the Living Theatre's activities up to the present and beyond, will include a screening of the documentary Mahloul (2009), at 6.30pm, a Turin premiere, in the company of the author, Gary Brackett, who will discuss the company's recent experiences in Israel and Palestine, where the theatre is a form of survival and resistance. The SettantaOttanta festival is organised by Andrea Mattacheo, Sebastiano Pucciarelli and Vittorio Sclaverani.
