The National Cinema Museum’s restoration projects are featured as part of a tribute to Segundo de Chomón in the festival entitled RE | VISIONI  (RE / VIEWS: Restored films), organised by the Académie de France in Rome.

Villa Medici, Rome – 27 November 2010, at 7 p.m.

As part of the RE | VISIONI (RE / VIEWS: Restored films) festival – on from the 19th to the 28th of November 2010 at the Académie de France in Rome, Villa Medici – the National Cinema Museum presents its restoration of Le spectre rouge (1907), La guerra e il sogno di Momi (The War and the Dream of Momi) (1917) and Lulù (1923).

In the section entitled EXTRA: Animation films and their pioneers, the museum presents a great director of photography and creator of cinematic special effects, through these three precious films: Segundo de Chomón (1871-1929), a longstanding collaborator of Giovanni Pastrone’s at Itala Film in Turin.

The EXTRA section is divided into two parts: the first will be on Thursday the 25th of November 2010 at 9 p.m. with a programme entitled The art of special effects; the second will be on Saturday the 27th of November 2010 at 7 p.m. with a programme entitled The films restored by the National Cinema Museum introduced by Claudia Gianetto and set to music live by Emanuele Bultrini in partnership with the Strade del Cinema film festival.

The Académie de France’s festival, which is in its first year, is entirely devoted to great restored films and the rediscovered treasures of Europe’s cinematic heritage. There are three main sections: a tribute to Jacques Tati, Extra and Carta Bianca.
