A new event in the LE SIGNORE DEL WEST (WOMEN OF THE WEST) festival features a screening of William A. Wellman’s film Westward the Women, introduced to the public by Riccardo Fassone.

Bibliomediateca - 18 October 2010, at 3.30 p.m.

Monday the 18th of October 2010, at 3.30 p.m. sees the latest event to be held in the Bibliomediateca: a screening of William A. Wellman’s film Westward the Women as part of the WOMEN OF THE WEST film festival.

A rare example of a western where the female cast has a central role, Westward the Women is a little-known gem in the world of classic 1950s film. Wellman was able to depict credible and complex characters and, at the same time, tell a “great story”: the epic of white man’s expansion westward. The screenplay, by the veteran Frank Capra, sensitively metres out drama and comedy, while the photography pays justice to the extraordinary scenery of the western United States. Introduced by Riccardo Fassone.

WOMEN OF THE WEST is the second festival of the 2010/2011 season to be organised by the National Cinema Museum in partnership with the University of Turin and the Sperduti nel buio film group of Turin’s DAMS college for the performing arts.
