For the event entitled COLPI DI GENIO. Scienziati e incontri nel cinema (MOMENTS OF GENIUS. Scientists and meetings in film), screening of the film The Time Machine by George Pal.
New appointment at the Library/Mediatheque on Monday 31 May 2010 with the film event COLPI DI GENIO. Scienziati e incontri al cinema (MOMENTS OF GENIUS. Scientists and meetings in film). He programme features the screening of the film The Time Machine by George Pal. The film opens with a sequence outside the narration; numerous clocks from all periods of time move against a black background. We immediately understand that time is central to the film by George Pal, based on the book by G.H Wells. The lead character, George, an idealistic scientist, is prisoner of his time and hopes that, by visiting other times, he will e able to witness the triumph of reason and mankind. He doesn’t succeed, but his battle against time and against the times is destined to be endless: this is the battle fought by all men. Introduced by Andra Mattacheo.
This film event intensifies the appointments of the broader project COLPI DI GENIO. Scienziati e inventori nel cinema (MOMENTS OF GENIUS. Scientists and meetings in film) – launched in January at the Cinema Massimo – organised by the National Cinema Museum, in conjunction with Turin University, Infini.To- Turin Planetarium and the Scientific and Technological Archive of Turin University, which proposes a programme of events dedicated to the theme “Film and Science”.
