Andrés Duque

Oleg y las raras artes (Oleg and the strange arts)

(Spain 2016, 70’, DCP, col., o.v. it. s/t)

A tribute to legendary and eccentric Russian composer Oleg Nikolaevich Karavaychuk, who grew up under Stalin’s regime and the last beatnik of a generation of artists who found a way of escaping KGB persecutions in music for cinema, working side by side with directors like Sergei Paradjanov and Kira Muratova. A poetic film of liberating beauty, made of unexpected declarations and notes, in which the artist, aged 89, expresses himself and interprets the "Russian spirit" in man almost medium-like way.

Wed 7, at 6.00 p.m./Fri 9, at 4.00 p.m./Sun 25, at 4.00 p.m./Wed 28, at 6.00 p.m.

Seymour: An Introduction

(Usa 2014, 84’, HD, col., o.v. it. s/t)

Seymour Bernstein started playing the piano as a child and began teaching it when he was fifteen years old to other people. Folowing a long and illustrious career as a pianist, he became a passionate teacher transferring inspiration and love for music. Ethan Hawke, one of his pupils, depicts him affectionately, gifting us with this film which is a love letter to music, without forgetting patience, concentration and the devotion that are fundamental for practising this art.
