Cinema Massimo – From 2 to 30 May 2017 – Screen Three

The National Cinema Museum is presenting the showcase titled The complexity of things. Robert Guédiguian Retrospective at the Cinema Massimo, from Tuesday 2 to Tuesday 30 May.

This showcase, offering all of the director’s films, from his debut to the latest film presented in Cannes in 2015, will be inaugurated on Tuesday 2 May at 8.30 p.m. by the screening of this latter film itself: Une histoire de fou (Don’t tell me the boy was mad). Robert Guédiguian and Ariane Ascaride will be present at the opening and will answer questions from the audience, following the film screening.

Certain Women by Kelly Reichardt is the [Import] for May.
Cinema Massimo – From 3 to 28 May 2017 – Screen Three

The successful monthly rendez-vous with [Import] is continuing in May, with the aim of bringing the very latest films which received great accolades at international festivals, but did not find any distribution in Italy, to the cinema. This month it is the turn of Certain Women by Kelly Reichardt.


Following her western Meek's Cutoff and her dramatic Wendy and Lucy, the filmmaker is working once again, for the third time, with actress Michelle Williams in Certain Women, based on a novel by Maile Meloy included in the Both Ways Is the Only Way I Want It collection. Laura Dern, Kristen Stewart and Lily Gladstone also appear in this wholly female cast. The film will see repeat screenings for the entire month of May.

Admission 6.00/4.00/3.00 euro.

For the occasion of the publication of Sentieri di carta nel West by Roberto Guarino and Matteo Paollone, Cult! is presenting the special screening of La resa dei conti by Sergio Sollima.
Cinema Massimo – 3 May 2017, 8.30 p.m. – Screen Three

The Cult! rendez-vous in May is dedicated to the universe of Italian western cartoon strips, perfectly described in the Sentieri di carta nel West – Quaranta interviste ad autori italiani di fumetti western (Paper trails in the West – Forty interviews to Italian authors of western cartoons) volume by Roberto Guarino and Matteo Pollone being released by Edizioni Allagalla.

For this occasion , the Cinema Museum is organising a special screening of Sergio Sollima’s film La resa dei conti (The big gundown), featuring Lee Van Cleef and Tomás Milián. Introduction by Roberto Guarino and Matteo Pollone. Admission 6.00/4.00/3.00 euro.

The Home Vision(s) showcase is presenting Dogtooth by Yorgos Lanthimos.
Cinema Massimo – 24 April 2017, 9.00 p.m. – Screen Three

The MYLF (Movies You'll Like Festival) group university students are continuing their showcase, this time by celebrating their home, Screen Three at the Cinema Massimo, with a cycle titled Home Vision(s) - At the cinema, as comfy as home, which wishes to be a reflection and a comparison at the same time on the theme of the Home. Yorgos Lanthimos’s controversial Kynodontas (Dogtooth) will be screened this week. An award winner at Un Certain regard section in Cannes 2009. Admission 3 euro, for all the screenings.
