Christine by Pierre-Gaspard Huit is inaugurating the ANGEL FACE. Tribute to Alain Delon showcase.

Library/Mediatheque – From 4 to 25 September 2017, 3.30 p.m., Events Room

Following the summer break, Monday afternoon screenings at the “Mario Gromo” Library/Mediatheque are resuming with the ANGEL FACE. Tribute to Alain Delon showcase, which is offering four films selected from the great French actor’s long-running filmography. The showcase is opening with the screening of Christine by Pierre-Gaspard Huit.

A charismatic figure in cinema, Alain Delon has embodied one of the models for the modern male sex symbol par excellence for a long time. A model characterised by maleness defined by Apollo-like traits, troubled by a shadow of aching melancholy. Over his career, the French actor has indeed loaned his body and face to modern anti-heroes full of indefinite aspects and doubts, showing a crisis in maleness only in part contained by an evident, striking beauty capable of marking the silver screen with a luminosity of its own. An almost angelic splendour, capable of merging with the most pervading, reckless and even vulgar traits of everyday life, but not resigned to the mediocrity of existence. And it is this thread of unceasing struggle and constant rebellion which Angel Face. Tribute to Alain Delon wishes to investigate, pinpointing four moments from the French actor’s rich filmography, in which his symbolic bodily and charismatic presence is condensed into what is truly a misplaced romantic anti-hero within the context of pervading cynicism about the contemporary.

All screenings are admission free until full seating capacity is reached, subject to free membership registration to the Library/Mediatheque and presenting an identity document.
