For the occasion of Remembrance Day 2016, an evening dedicated to the Julian-Dalmatian exodus and the Trieste issue, through unpublished footage from the newsreels of that time.

Cinema Massimo – 10 February 2016, 8.15 p.m. – Screen Three

For the occasion of the celebrations on Remembrance Day 2016, the National Resistance Film Archive, the National Business Cinema Archive, the Vera Nocentini Foundation, the “Giorgio Agosti” Piedmont Institute for the history of the Resistance and contemporary society, in collaboration with the National Cinema Museum, ANVGD Piedmont – Turin Province Committee, the Cesedi of the Turin Metropolitan City, the Piedmont Region Council – Piedmont and Constitution Committee, will present an evening dedicated to the Julian-Dalmatian exodus and the Eastern border by using the magnifying glass of unpublished pictures from the newsreels of that time, provided by the Istituto Luce and by the National Resistance Film Archive. This material documents the Julian-Dalmatian exodus by weaving together reality and propaganda, and linking the departures of the exiles with their arrival and their settlement within post-war Italy. The images furthermore pay particular attention to the issue of Trieste, which would definitively return to be a part of the Italian territory following the London Memorandum signatures, on 5 October 1954. Admission free.
