The National Cinema Museum celebrates one hundred years of Cabiria.

National Cinema Museum

For the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of Cabiria, the first kolossal in the history of film, directed by Giovanni Pastrone, the National Cinema Museum is organising a series of events in view of this celebration.

First and foremost, thanks to the fruitful collaboration between the Museum and the Rai National Symphony Orchestra, a showcase titled The sound of images including the kolossal and some recently restored masterpieces of silent cinema will be screened with a live soundtracks performance within the lovely setting of the A. Toscanini Auditorium.

New events and happenings are being defined, to complete a programme that aims to reconfirm the greatness and exceptionality of Giovanni Pastrone’s achievement, even after one hundred years, with his masterpiece Cabiria: the film left a deep impression on the burgeoning art of film, in being avant-garde and in becoming a reference for a multitude of international filmmakers and for the actual film market worldwide.
