Summer 2017 at the National Cinema Museum

The National Cinema Museum will be open regularly during the whole summer period, furthermore, on Tuesday 8, the Ferragosto holiday on Tuesday 15, and Tuesday 22 August, it will open exceptionally from 9.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.

 

In addition to the wide-ranging, interesting and original permanent showcase, it will be possible during the whole period to visit the BESTIALE! Animal Film Stars exhibition: the first important showcase to celebrate animals on the big screen, by curators Davide Ferrario and Donata Pesenti Campagnoni, with the collaboration of Tamara Sillo and Nicoletta Pacini.

 

The exhibition circuit, featuring over 440 items retracing animals’ constant and transversal presence within the history of film, develops within the Mole Antonelliana and is structured in ten themed sections telling spectators about a multi-faceted universe, in which photographs, posters, storyboards, set-costumes, memorabilia and animatronics dialogue with footage from the films, assembled into special edits. Sunday activities will continue for the entire summer period: the History of animated drawings visit at 11.00 a.m. for children and families, which retraces the most significant stages of animated design from its very first experiments, throughout the Museum collections; the Discovering the Cinema Museum afternoon guided tour at 4.00 p.m., for getting to know the Museum and its wonders, from shadow-play to the Lumière brothers, up to the great stars in movie history.

 

From Wednesday 9 to Monday 21 August, it will be possible to attend the Discovering the Cinema Museum guided tour for the whole family, every day at 4.00 p.m.

 

Moreover, on Tuesday 15 August 2017, for the occasion of Ferragosto, it will be possible for children and families to take part in the History of animated drawings visit at 11.00 a.m., and in the Discovering the Cinema Museum guided tour at 4.00 p.m.

 

The cost for guided tours will be 5.00 euro for the morning visit at 11.00 a.m., while the afternoon one at 4.00 p.m. will be 6.00 euro (free up to 3 years of age), in addition to reduced admission to the Museum (8.00 euro for adults, 3.00 euro for children and juniors aged 6-18), and admission free for children up to 5 years of age, the disabled, accompaniers, Museums Season Card holders, Torino Piemonte Card. Booking is advised.

- Cinema Massimo, from Thursday 6 July to Wednesday 30 August 2017 included.

 

- “Mario Gromo” Library/Mediatheque, from Monday 7 to Friday 25 August 2017 included.
